Merry Christmas from us all
As 2019 moves into 2020 we would like to thank all our customers for their business and the continued confidence they put in Custom Fire and Security to keep their homes, businesses and people safe.
Our customers come first and over the Christmas and New Year period we are on call to provide 24/7 support.
It has been a busy year for us: we have worked tirelessly to ensure each one of our customers receives a high level of customer support and care, something we pride ourselves on and which is at the very core of our business. As ever, we are always pleased to hear from our customers and ready to assist with any questions or enquiries they may have about their security or fire safety needs. We have continued to support major public sector organisations, businesses, and home owners. We will continue to add to our range of case studies to highlight the strength and depth of our services.
Next year we will continue to bring to market new products and services to ensure our customers stay protected and safe.
During the winter months there is a higher risk of homes and businesses being targeted by offenders. Factors that contribute to this include:
● Darker nights allow criminals to recognise when a property is likely unoccupied due to the lights being off.
● In the lead up to Christmas there is an increased likelihood of homes or businesses containing valuable items in the form of Christmas gifts or raised stock levels. After Christmas the home will be full of new items that can easily be resold.
● Some people choose to escape the cold and go on holiday during winter, leaving their property unoccupied.
● Increased visits to friends and family over the festive period can potentially cause your home to be more vulnerable.
● For businesses there is an extended shut down period.
● It can be a difficult time of year financially for some, which may lead them to turn to crime in their desperation.
There are of course things you can do to lower your risk of being a victim:
● Leave your lights on or on a timer when you’re not home.
● Ensure valuables and other items such as Christmas gifts are out of view.
● Check that every door and window is locked before you leave the house.
● Avoid using social media in a way that may advertise the fact you’re not at home.
● Ensure external motion sensor lights are set properly to be triggered by anybody entering your property.
But specifically for our customers, now is a good time to let us review your security. Since having your intruder alarm fitted, have you re-modelled your home or have you moved large items of furniture that may be blocking a sensor?
Has anything changed?
For business, has your risk profile changed, since having the alarm installed?
Have you restructured the business, had office moves or added new machinery?
When was the last time you checked to make sure your keyholders were still relevant and your keyholder records kept by the police or monitoring station were accurate and up to date?
At Christmas your home and offices may be decked out with festive decorations. After they have been put up, please check to make sure that your movement sensors are not blocked by the Christmas tree or other festive additions. It is also worth checking to make sure that any decorations will not trigger a false alarm. Nothing can be more annoying than when you sit down to enjoy the Christmas festivities only to be called out because a party balloon as come free and is moving around the office!
Please remember the importance of having your alarm regularly serviced,. We would rather test its effectiveness when we service it rather thatn let the burglar do it when they break in.
If you don’t have an intruder alarm or you are looking to change your alarm system, 2020 is a great time to start. You may wish to consider upgrading your existing system to fit one of our new fully illuminated sounders. In 2020 we will be introducing our new Home+ system that will protect garages outbuilding and sheds, linking them to your intruder alarm using secure wireless technology.
You can increase the security of your property in Dorset or Hampshire enormously with an effective Custom Fire and Security home security or business solution.

Intruder Alarm Options
A Custom Fire and Security intruder alarm can offer you peace of mind that your home and business is protected. They detect when an unauthorised person is attempting to enter your home and raise the alarm. There are different types of intruder alarm systems available. From bells-only alarms, which produce an audible alarm to alert those nearby of the intruder, to monitored alarms whereby a dedicated company monitors the status of your alarm 24/7, alerting the authorities if it is triggered. You can decide on the intruder alarm system that best suits your needs and your budget.
CCTV systems are the most powerful deterrent when it comes to preventing your home being broken into, according to former burglars. With the danger of immediately being caught on camera, they would usually prefer to target a property with much less risk attached. CCTV security systems come with different capabilities, giving you many different options based on how you will use it and how much you’d like to spend. With some CCTV systems offering the ability to view the feed directly via your mobile phone or tablet, you will never feel more in control of the security of your property.
